MPSC BMC Recruitment 2024 updates – 50% of the posts of Assistant Commissioner in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are vacant. Of the total 35 posts, only 17 have been filled. Of the 24 department offices, 11 do not have assistant commissioners. The executive engineer has been entrusted with the additional charge of the vacant posts in these 11 department offices. The issue of the vacancy was raised by Mumbai Congress state president Varsha Gaikwad in the winter session.

MPSC conducts the selection process for the post of Assistant Commissioner in The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, 50 per cent of the posts of assistant commissioners are lying vacant due to lack of selection process for the last few years. Assistant commissioners are appointed in 24 division offices of the municipal corporation. Assistant commissioners are also appointed to head some departments. There are a total of 35 such assistant commissioner posts in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Only 17 of those positions have full-time officers. Engineers have been given additional charge in the remaining 18 posts. Officers who do not have a full-time assistant commissioner are limited in decision-making.

The additional charge of the vacant assistant commissioner posts in 11 division offices has been entrusted to the executive engineer. Assistant Commissioner is an administrative post. Therefore, these vacancies should be filled immediately through MPSC. Also, many works are stalled as these posts are vacant. Varsha Gaikwad demanded in the session that these posts should be recruited to complete it at the earliest.

मुंबई महानगरपालिकेत सहायक आयुक्त पदाच्या ५० टक्के जागा रिक्त

• मुंबई महानगरपालिकेतील सहाय्यक आयुक्त पदाच्या ५० टक्के जागा रिक्त आहेत. एकूण ३५ पदांपैकी केवळ १७ पदे भरली आहेत. तर २४ पैकी ११ विभाग कार्यालयांमध्ये सहायक आयुक्त नाहीत. या ११ विभाग कार्यालयांमधील रिक्त पदांचा अतिरिक्त कारभार कार्यकारी अभियंत्यावर सोपविण्यात आला आहे. या रिक्त पदाचा मुद्दा मुंबई काँग्रेस प्रदेश अध्यक्षा आमदार वर्षा गायकवाड यांनी हिवाळी अधिवेशनात उपस्थित केला आहे.
• महाराष्ट्र लोकसेवा आयोगातर्फे मुंबई महानगरपालिकेतील सहाय्यक आयुक्त पदासाठी निवड प्रक्रिया राबवली जाते. मात्र गेल्या काही वर्षांपासून निवड प्रक्रियाच न झाल्यामुळे सहाय्यक आयुक्तांची ५० टक्के पदे रिक्त आहेत. महानगरपालिकेच्या २४ विभाग कार्यालयांत सहाय्यक आयुक्तांच्या नियुक्ती केल्या जातात. त्याचबरोबर काही विभागांच्या प्रमुखपदीही सहाय्यक आयुक्त नियुक्त केले जातात. मुंबई महानगरपालिकेत अशी सहाय्यक आयुक्तांची एकूण ३५ पदे आहेत. त्यापैकी केवळ १७ पदांवर पूर्णवेळ अधिकारी आहेत. उर्वरित १८ पदांवर अभियंत्यांना अतिरिक्त पदभार देण्यात आला आहे. पूर्णवेळ सहाय्यक आयुक्त नसलेल्या अधिकाऱ्यांना निर्णय घेण्यास मर्यादा येतात.
• ११ विभाग कार्यालयांतील रिक्त असलेल्या सहाय्यक आयुक्तपदांचा अतिरिक्त कारभार कार्यकारी अभियंत्यांवर सोपविण्यात आला आहे. सहाय्यक आयुक्त हे प्रशासकीय पद आहे. त्यामुळे ही रिक्त पदे एमपीएससीच्या माध्यमातून त्वरित भरावी. तसेच ही पदे रिक्त असल्यामुळे अनेक कामे रखडलेली आहेत. ती लवकरात लवकर पूर्ण करण्यासाठी या पदांची भरती करावी, अशी मागणी वर्षा गायकवाड यांनी अधिवेशनात केली.
