पाणी (सिंचन) व्यवस्थापन असो किंवा धरणांची देखभाल दुरुस्ती, वाढत्या कोर्ट केसेसमुळे अधिकारी कर्मचाऱ्यांवर कामाचा अतिरिक्त ताण वाढला आहे. गोदावरी खोरे विकास महामंडळांतर्गत औरंगाबाद, जालना, परभणी, हिंगोली, नांदेड आणि लातूर या जिल्ह्यांचा आणि बीड, उस्मानाबाद, अहमदनगर आणि नाशिक जिल्ह्यांच्या काही भागांचा समावेश होतो. या सर्व जिल्ह्यांत धरणे बांधकाम करणे आणि जुन्या धरणांतील पाणी (सिंचन) व्यवस्थापन करण्यासाठी स्वतंत्र विभाग आहेत. बांधकाम विभागाची सात मंडळ कार्यालये, ३३ विभागीय कार्यालये आणि १७८ उपविभागीय कार्यालये आहेत. पाणी व्यवस्थापन विभागाची मंडळांतर्गत तीन मंडळ कार्यालये, १५ विभागीय कार्यालये आणि १०३ उपविभागीय कार्यालये कार्यरत आहेत.
